5 Ways To Improve Your HVAC System Efficiency

On February 25, 2020 by Rocky

Energy is a resource. And as we say it’s important to save resources. HVAC energy efficiency also starts with a mindset. A mindset of using less and getting the most out of what you have.

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. This system is used to provide heating and cooling services to buildings. Today, let’s learn about those 5 common ways that you can use to improve your HVAC system.

#1 Invest In Energy-Efficient HVAC Equipment

One of the topmost ways to make your HVAC system efficiency is to make a good investment on the product that you are purchasing. This depends on the area for which you are investing in. For instance, if you are buying a fan for your industry, try to invest in HVLS industrial fans.

These are high volume and low-speed fans with a diameter of 2.1-meter. It saves up to 80% cost of operation within 6 months of installation. So this was an example of how you can make smart choices.

#2 Schedule Annual Maintenance

Everything requires maintenance and so does the HVAC system to improve the performance and efficiency. So don’t ever forget to schedule a tune-up for your AC, fan, and furnace. This will help you avoid performance and breakdown problems that may happen over the course of the year.

#3 Regularly Change Your Air Filter

You must change your systems air filter regularly as it is considered to be the most important task to improve air quality, enhance efficiency and prevent the breakdown of your HVAC system. Always remember to check the filter every month and replace it whenever it looks dirty or clogged.

#4 Power Down Electronics

Turn off electronics when not in use. This is the basic “save resources” technique that teachers are been teaching you when you were 5 years old. It must be important then, right? When you turn off equipment, computers, machinery, and other energy-consuming items, you save almost 10-15% of your total residential electricity bill.

According to the US department of energy, constantly plugged-in appliances account for 5-10% of the total residential energy use. When smart choices will help you save your own money, then why not adopt it.

#5 Consider System Upgrades

As I said, constant maintenance is important, the same way up-gradation is also important. I know, replacing your old HVAC system is a big investment, but it also is a big step to improve your comfort. The constant upgrade will come with certain advantages attached to it.
